Qingzhen achieves remarkable, comprehensive transformation

As the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) concludes, Qingzhen city in Guiyang has unveiled an impressive report card, showcasing dynamic growth across agriculture, industry, and tourism, while continuously enhancing its business environment. 

By the end of 2024, Qingzhen's GDP had reached 35.01 billion yuan ($4.93 billion), marking a 25 percent increase from 2020 and 4 percent increase year-on-year. Per capita GDP rose from 44,800 yuan in 2020 to 52,483 yuan.

The city's above-designated-size industrial output soared from 25.58 billion yuan in 2020 to 36.47 billion yuan in 2024. The aluminum processing, new building materials, and specialty food industries collectively accounted for 84.4 percent of this output. Industrial investment totaled 17.45 billion yuan, reinforcing its pivotal role in the local economy.

In agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fisheries, total output increased by 33 percent from 5.06 billion yuan in 2019 to 6.73 billion yuan in 2024. Rural residents saw their per capita disposable income rise by 46 percent, reflecting robust agricultural growth.

The city has nurtured 23 provincial-level specialized and innovative enterprises, 36 national high-tech companies, and registered 52 technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises. Notably, Qingzhen also welcomed its first national-level "Little Giant" enterprise.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Qingzhen welcomed over 50 million tourists, generating more than 50 billion yuan in tourism revenue. The city now boasts 4,497 tourism-related businesses, including 75 enterprises above designated size, securing its place among China's top 100 county-level tourism destinations for the seventh year in a row. The cultural and tourism sectors continue to invigorate rural vitalization.
