The 3-million-laying-hen project, being carried out by Baishun Agricultural Technology Co, commenced construction on Sept 27 in Xiniu village, Weicheng town, Qingzhen.
With a total investment of 370 million yuan ($52.1 million) and covering 21 hectares, the project is innovatively located on a rehabilitated mining site. This approach creates a multi-beneficial model that utilizes wasteland, enables efficient breeding, and promotes ecological restoration, thereby increasing land-use efficiency and reducing investment costs.
The facility is expected to rear 3.24 million laying hens annually, generating an estimated average annual output value of 600 million yuan and a profit of 48 million yuan. It will create approximately 300 directly related jobs and another 150 indirectly related positions in logistics and temporary labor.
Wei Tianpeng, head of the animal husbandry department under the Guizhou Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, stated that the project would enhance the local egg supply capacity and play a key role in stabilizing the supply of Vegetable Basket Project products.
Wu Yongkang, mayor of Qingzhen, described the project as a flagship initiative to advance rural vitalization and agricultural modernization. He expressed hope that the company would dedicate itself completely to ensure the project's early completion and operation, and for the investment to swiftly translate into tangible benefits.
The Qingzhen government pledged to optimize the business environment, provide comprehensive support throughout the project's lifecycle, and promptly resolve any construction challenges to accelerate progress.
