Qingzhen medical security bureau, in collaboration with the market supervision administration, has introduced an innovative service model by launching the "Affordable Medicine Counters" initiative across the city.
The first batch of these counters has been established in four pharmacies, including Guizhou Zhenghexiang Pharmaceutical Co's Store No 158 and Guizhou Yipin Pharmacy Chain Co's Store No 295. These counters offer 22 types of commonly used medications for ailments such as colds, gastrointestinal issues, and vitamin deficiencies, providing residents with high-quality, low-cost medicines.

The affordable medicine counters are prominently placed within the pharmacies, clearly marked, and staffed with professionals who offer medication consultation services. All medicines are procured through legitimate channels, with stringent quality control measures to ensure their effectiveness. The price margin for these medicines is kept below 10 percent, with most medicines priced under 10 yuan ($1.40).
The city plans to expand the policy's reach by encouraging more designated retail pharmacies to participate and continuously optimizing the medicine supply list, thereby allowing more residents to benefit from this initiative.
"Establishing affordable medicine counters not only reduces the medication burden on residents but also enhances the social image of pharmacies, achieving a win-win for public welfare and market development," said an official from the Qingzhen medical security bureau.
The city aims to refine its regulatory mechanisms, ensuring that residents have access to safe, convenient, and affordable medications.
