The Qingzhen bureau of agriculture and rural affairs has distributed free disease and pest control materials in Xindian town to protect 160,000 mu (10,667 hectares) of rapeseed.
The bureau relied on detailed monitoring data of pests and diseases in various towns and purchased prevention and control materials according to the needs of agricultural production, delivering 879,000 packages free of charge. With the distribution to Xindian, Qingzhen has now supplied prevention and control materials with a total value of 1.2 million yuan ($166,987) to all 12 towns in the city.
"Rapeseed is in the flowering to pod stage, a critical stage for disease and pest control," said an agricultural technician in Xindian town. They will distribute supplies to households and make every effort to ensure that the pesticides work effectively.
The bureau will enhance the role of agricultural technicians and establish 10 professional teams to provide technical guidance to farmers, enabling them to use pesticides scientifically and reasonably. It will also improve the prevention and control of rapeseed diseases and pests, strengthen pesticide use supervision, and minimize environmental pollution to ensure a successful rapeseed harvest.
