In Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, the movement for region-wide fitness is gaining momentum, with the ideals of "fitness for all", "fitness every day", and "scientific fitness" becoming deeply embedded in the city's culture.

On Nov 9, 2024, the 6th Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area Employee Sports Chess Open kicked off at the Guiyang Chess Institute. From Nov 22 to 24, the 2024 Guiyang Table Tennis Open took place at the Guiyang Citizen Fitness Center. On Nov 30, the 2024 Guiyang and Gui'an Road Cycling Race was held at Yunmanhu Park in Gui'an. These city-, district- and county-level sports events reflect the growing enthusiasm for fitness across Guiyang.

In an effort to further promote sports accessibility, 12 public sports facilities across the city have extended their low-cost or free opening hours from 35 hours per week to 45 hours per week. The Guiyang Citizen Fitness Center sees its sports facilities used by hundreds of visitors every day.

Looking ahead, Guiyang will remain committed to becoming a model city for region-wide fitness, expanding the supply of high-quality sports resources, and better meeting the diverse and high-quality fitness needs of the public.
