To promote a sustainable and low-carbon lifestyle among locals, Qingzhen city in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has rolled out its 2.0 version of its waste classification system, with specific actions taken to achieve a higher waste utilization rate.

The government has set up garbage collection and recyclable waste collection sites based on communities' population, layouts, transport and other elements, and made adjustments flexibly in terms of the actual work habits of cleaners. So far, 198 such collection sites have been put in place.

Qingzhen has also built special waste recycle and utilization production lines to process the recyclable part of household rubbish, which will be used for producing bioprotein and biodiesel, generating biogas, and incineration for power generation.

Residents are taught to form good habits in garbage classification through themed wall paintings, household garbage collection site visits, and rubbish recycle experience sharing.
