Qingzhen city in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been upgrading existing properties in old residential areas, such as parking spaces and shops, and encouraging enterprises to install charging piles that are free of charge for residents and available to the public for a fee. Related earnings will be used to pay for follow-up services in these areas. So far, 430 parking spaces have been created.

In addition, idle sports fields, garages and houses have been used to set up local snack stalls managed by professional business operation enterprises.

Qingzhen has also made efforts to apply for special funds from the central government for gas pipe and urban indemnificatory housing subsidies in order to solve core living issues in old residential areas in terms of building construction, supporting facilities, sewage and rain drainage and gas supply.

So far, 38.48 million yuan ($5.36 million) of the funds have been obtained and used for parking lots, greening work, lighting, and more.
