Qingzhen city in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has taken targeted measures to fuse tourism with commerce, and inject new momentum into local consumption.

During the cherry blossom season, the city has set up several sightseeing bus stations to offer tourists free rides to local attractions. The free buses stop at scenic spots and some large business complexes. So far, these rides have brought about 59,000 tourist visits to business complexes.

The government has issued online shopping coupons through the consumption application Duocaibao, and encouraged stores to issue subsidy plans to drive catering sales growth. To date, about 866,000 yuan ($124,358) of coupons have been used. These are expected to spur total sales of consumer goods worth about 548 million yuan.

By giving full play to traditional as well as emerging media, Qingzhen has popularized its city profile in terms of food, clothing, transportation, housing, and other aspects of life.
