Qingzhen city in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, organized a voluntary tree–planting activity on Jan 28, the first workday after the week-long Spring Festival holiday.

The event was participated in by senior government officials of the city government as well as representatives of volunteer groups.

A total of 2,200 bamboos were planted. Similar volunteer activities were also held simultaneously in towns across Qingzhen, boosting people's awareness of sustainability and social responsibility.

In recent years, Qingzhen has been widely lauded for its achievements in sewage processing, air quality, forest coverage, water saving and tourism.
