Wu Yongkang, mayor of Qingzhen city, Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, went on an inspection tour of Laoma River on June 25.

After being briefed about officials' ecological governance measures and the recent development of the river's surrounding areas, Wu emphasized the need to prioritize ecology and implement sustainable development models.

He said that building sewage culverts is an effective way to eliminate black and odorous water bodies and that relevant departments should work together to speed up the construction of drainage network for the rain and sewage division.

Wu also visited two local sewage processing plants to learn about water treatment techniques. He said that construction on supporting facilities should be accelerated to maximize sewage treatment efficiency.
