Qingzhen city – administered by Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – is taking action to beef up its traditional Chinese medicine, or TCM sector.

The county-level city will expand the deployment of TCM business, in order to give full play to its performance edge in the public medical system reform and in public medical emergency responses – as well as to meet the increasing needs of residents for TCM-related services – according to a meeting held on Dec 23.

Plans are for the city to synergize its TCM inheritance with the rural revitalization program. By 2025, a herb planting base will be established to boost the local healthcare sector. Meanwhile, TCM is expected to integrate with the primary, secondary and tertiary industries, with one to two renowned enterprises with great development potential set to be introduced to Qingzhen within five years.

In addition, the coverage of the country's healthcare insurance system will be further expanded to include TCM services and products, with an eye to alleviating the financial burden on the overall healthcare system from residents.

TCM personnel teams in Qingzhen will be strengthened, by optimizing their salary structures and bringing in high-end talent.
