Hongfenghu town in Qingzhen, a county-level city in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, recently launched safety publicity campaigns at its schools, which were led by the town government and supported by village committees and local schools.

The campaign was meant to spread safety awareness among pupils in preparation for their summer holiday.

Cadres in the village and school faculty explained to students how important it was to protect themselves by citing real safety incidents, in order to arouse their security awareness. The instructions were also accompanied by engaging quizzes and interactive activities in which students frequently raised their hands, asking for safety measures in many areas, such as transportation safety, food safety, and fire safety.

The town is trying to establish a clear security accountability system, form detailed response mechanisms, and strengthen the publicity of safety-related information and measures.

By establishing an overall publicity mechanism led by the family, school, and society, the town aims to make students and school faculty members more aware of potential safety risks.

To date, the town has rolled out 24 publicity campaigns on safety, given out more than 3,000 safety leaflets, and delivered safety education speeches through new media platforms over 500 times.
