Data showed that Qingzhen, a county-level city in Southwest China's Guizhou province, received nearly 800,000 visits during the recent May Day holiday, with tourism revenue coming in at 398.11 million yuan ($59.72 million).

Benefiting from its ample tourism resources, Qingzhen organized four new sightseeing routes for travellers, which focused on health and fitness, rural experiences, environmental villages and valley adventures.

In addition, the city offered travel guides for visitors on popular online platforms such as WeChat, Weibo and Douyin, which attracted more tourists.

According to statistics released by the government, 80 percent of travellers chose to drive themselves and scenic spots such as Hongfeng Lake and Yachi River were the hottest destinations.

Fishing, chatting, exploring villages and experiencing what it feels like to be a farmer have become a new fashion for many city dwellers.

Qingzhen also staged performances that celebrated the centenary of the Party's founding, to boost the festive atmosphere.
