A groundbreaking ceremony of the new Guiyang Shanshan Guangda Outlets Plaza project was launched on Aug 3 in Qingzhen city, a county-level city in Southwest China's Guizhou province.

With a total investment of 3 billion yuan ($430 million) and an area of about 10 hectares, the project is owned and operated by the Shanshan Group, a listed company based in Ningbo, in East China's Zhejiang province. The company has introduced into the plaza more than 260 international and domestic brands, including some 25 international first-line brands.

Officials said that once completed, the project is expected to generate more than 1.5 billion yuan in the annual revenue and pay over 50 million yuan in annual taxes, as well as create about 2,000 jobs.

They said the smooth start of the project was the result of Qingzhen's efforts to expand its industrial upgrading and optimize its business environment.

In recent years, Qingzhen has been focusing on medium and high-end manufacturing and paying great attention to attracting investment, project services and industrial development.

Meanwhile, it has further implemented its "Regulations on Optimizing the Business Environment" and the full-cycle service mechanism for projects introduced to the city, to create a better business environment.

As a result, the city has so far attracted 34 projects with a total investment of 16.65 billion yuan since the beginning of the year, including the Guiyang Shanshan Guangda Outlets Plaza project. Its GDP growth rate turned from negative to positive in the first half, indicating a post novel-coronavirus recovery, according to local officials.

Moving forwards, Qingzhen will continue to develop towards the mid to high-end commercial and trade sectors and build itself into a new commercial city featuring garden landscapes.
